Altar Figurine “Azazel”

Azazel is a figure of ancient Hebrew tradition and the Book of Enoch, one of the fallen Watcher angels. The figurine shows him horned and winged, as the keeper of forbidden knowledge.

Meaning in tradition. The Book of Enoch tells that Azazel taught people to work metals and make weapons and ornaments. In the Old Testament his name is linked with the rite of the scapegoat that carried the sins of the people into the wilderness.
