The fish represents abundance, because in Chinese the word for fish (yu) is consonant with the word for abundance. It is undesirable to place the image of fish in the bedroom, their place is in the main rooms of the house (living room or study). The image of a child sitting on a swimming fish (yu) expresses good wishes for "wealth and high position." The same meaning is indicated by the presence of a ruyi, a scepter of power, in the hands of a child.
