Ritual drum Damaru No. 1

Damaru is a ritual two-sided hourglass drum known as the Shiva drum. This sacred instrument is used in Hinduism, especially in the Shaivist tradition, as well as in Tibetan Buddhism. The sound of damaru is considered the first sound of creation, the eternal vibration from which the world is born and maintained. In Buddhist tradition, damaru symbolizes the unity of method and wisdom, male and female principles, emptiness and form. The instrument is used in meditative, tantric and ritual practices, and is also used as an ethnic musical and ritual attribute.
