Convex Bagua Mirror Compass Medium

The Convex Bagua Mirror Compass Medium 16 cm is a traditional Feng Shui protective amulet: an octagonal gold-coloured frame with a round convex mirror in the centre, surrounded by the concentric rings of a Luo Pan compass with Chinese characters and trigrams on a red field.

The medium mirror measures 16 × 16 cm (1.5 cm thick, about 202 g) — a universal size: it is clearly visible above the door of a flat or house and does not look bulky on a window.

Bagua mirror with a Luo Pan compass

Around the mirror are the rings of the Luo Pan, the traditional Chinese Feng Shui compass. Masters use a professional Luo Pan to determine directions, the "24 mountains", trigrams and cyclical signs in order to work out a favourable layout for a home and its rooms. The Luo Pan is therefore a symbol of precision, order and Feng Shui knowledge.

The Bagua mirror with a compass combines two powerful symbols: the convex mirror disperses unfavourable energy, while the image of the Luo Pan symbolically "tunes" the space and helps direct energy flows into the home correctly.

Why a convex Bagua mirror

Feng Shui distinguishes convex, concave and flat Bagua mirrors. The convex mirror is considered the gentlest and safest: it does not send negativity back but disperses it to the sides. It is hung to protect the home from so-called "poison arrows" (sha qi) — unfavourable energy which, according to Feng Shui, is created by:

sharp corners of neighbouring buildings pointing at the home;
a straight road or street running directly at the house;
posts, pylons and lone trees opposite the entrance;
roofs and spires "looking" at the windows;
unfavourable buildings opposite — hospitals, cemeteries, landfills.

How to hang a Bagua mirror correctly

The Bagua mirror is a powerful amulet, so it is used with care:

hang the mirror outside — above the front door or on a window, mirror side facing out;
point it at the source of unfavourable energy;
do not hang the mirror inside the home facing into a room;
do not aim the mirror directly at your neighbours' doors and windows.

Care

Wipe the mirror with a soft dry cloth or a glass wipe and avoid abrasive cleaners. If the mirror hangs outdoors, check the fixing from time to time.

A Bagua mirror as a gift

The Convex Bagua Mirror Compass Medium 16 cm is a useful gift for a housewarming, a move to a new home or the opening of a shop or office. It is given as a wish for protection, peace and well-being.
