Altar Figurine “Dolya and Nedolya”

Dolya and Nedolya are spinning sisters of Slavic mythology, helpers of the goddess Mokosh who spin the thread of human fate. Dolya spins the even golden thread of happiness, Nedolya the uneven thread of trials.

Meaning in tradition. The Slavs believed that Dolya comes to hard-working and honest people and helps them in everything, while Nedolya comes to those who have lost their way. Good fortune was called with rites, words and deeds, and misfortune was appeased and sent away.
