Altar Figurine “Yarilo”

Yarilo is the Slavic deity of the spring sun, fertility, youth and awakening nature. The figurine shows him with a sun disc and ears of wheat, signs of light and the harvest to come.

Meaning in tradition. The name Yarilo is linked with Slavic words for fierce, bright and vital force, meaning strength, passion and life energy. In spring and summer festivities and games were held in his honour, bonfires were lit and the sun was greeted with prayers for fertile fields, love and healthy children.
