Altar Figurine “Brigid”, Large
Brigid is the Celtic goddess of fire, the hearth, poetry, smithcraft and healing springs. The figurine shows her by the sacred cauldron with a serpent sign, a symbol of renewal and wisdom.
Meaning in tradition. In Ireland Brigid was honoured as the patroness of poets, smiths and healers, and her festival of Imbolc opened the spring. A sacred fire was kept in her honour at Kildare for centuries, and Brigid's straw cross is still hung in homes as a protective charm.
