Bronze Xuanwu Guardian of the North No. 1, 4.5 cm

Bronze Xuanwu Guardian of the North No. 1, 4.5 cm — a miniature bronze figurine of the Black Tortoise entwined with a snake, on waves and an octagonal pedestal with the Ba Gua trigrams and the inscription 玄武. Size — 3.5×3×4.5 cm, weight — about 39 g.

Who Xuanwu is

Xuanwu (玄武), the Black Tortoise or Dark Warrior, is one of the four celestial guardians of the cardinal directions: a tortoise entwined with a snake. He guards the north and is linked to winter and the Water element. In classical Feng Shui the Black Tortoise is the reliable "mountain" behind the house: it gives support, stability and protection.

The Xuanwu figurine symbolically:

guards the northern side of the home;
gives support and a secure base;
helps career and stability;
symbolises longevity.

Where to place it

Xuanwu is placed in the northern part of the home or room — the career area — and at the workplace behind you as a symbol of support. In a set of four guardians he stands in the north, opposite the Vermilion Bird.

As a gift

The Black Tortoise is a gift for a manager or someone starting a new venture, with a wish for reliable support; together with the other guardians it makes a complete protective set.
